Shan was born and raised in Hong Kong and has specialised in the recruitment of lawyers, from Associates through to Partners, since 2009.

Having spent the majority of his career in Hong Kong, Shan brings extensive experience advising on senior legal hires across the Asia-Pacific, UK and European markets. He has successfully placed lawyers into a broad range of leading international and domestic law firms — including top Wall Street, Magic Circle and Red Circle firms — as well as into in-house legal teams across sectors such as banking, insurance, asset management, energy (including renewables), technology, media, telecommunications and fintech.

His track record spans a wide range of practice areas, including M&A, IPOs, Funds, Private Equity, Financing, Derivatives, Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property, giving him a deep understanding of both private practice and in-house hiring requirements.

Shan is known for his relationship-led approach, built on trust, discretion and long-term partnerships, which has enabled him to work on an exclusive basis with both clients and candidates.

In 2021, Shan founded his own legal search firm, further strengthening his commercial insight and strategic advisory perspective. After nearly five years running his own practice, he rejoined Carlyle Kingswood Global in early 2026. Now based in London, he focuses on the London legal market, advising law firms and in-house teams on strategic senior hires.
